A painting by the artist James Foort called: The Black Apostle Comforts Ahm

The Black Apostle Comforts Ahm

The Black Apostle is a teacher of the slave children, himself a slave. He loves Ahm, the child slave in the story “Between Six Boards and the Mountain”. He wants to shield her from her fate. The skin color difference tells us that we are all kin regardless of our differences, least of all differences in skin color. The trace of the origins of humans has shown origin in Africa. The effects of sunlight led to adaptations that would favor survival. The blackness against the whiteness of the two people in the picture, emphasizes the sameness of the pair because they are human.
