A painting by the artist James Foort called: Carved Root From Rebecca Spit

Carved Root From Rebecca Spit

I had bundles of sticks shaped like snakes to use up some of the acrylic paint left over from paintings. The snakes, all different, were collected from the beach, washed clean, bundles of parallel fibers common in stick formations of roots. They are easily shaped with a knife, rasps and sand paper. Approximately 130 to 140 specimens were made. The illustration shows the importance of curves, and the eyes emphasizing life.
