A painting by the artist James Foort called: Universal Mother

Universal Mother

The painting was done as a gift to friends living in Devon, England. We had found the stone in her hand on a beach. I saw the soft shape of the woman to be of the quality of a mother figure clad as Eve might have been. The copy came to me from them. I felt the duplication was as good as the original. Another of my paintings was duplicated for them on canvas with satisfying results. Hopefully, replications of my paintings will satisfy others viewing them, sized and toned as they wish.

The stalk of grain, the moon full of eggs, the mistletoe suggesting magic and the root, stem, seed and flower on the theme of motherhood and fertility represent the message in the painting. It was one of my earliest paintings, a highly regarded gift.
